 Interesting gaming software, which is also truly educational, is a rare commodity at best -- especially in the realm of music education. Computer software games are a huge and burgeoning industry because kids are completely enthralled by them. Why not harness the attention-focusing power of computer games by integrating piano practice software with a fun, interactive gaming engine?
Allegro Rainbow, makers of Piano Wizard, seems to have discovered that magical combination. They are resolutely dedicated to bring FUN piano practice software to the marketplace -- thanks to a solid product idea and design environment. I don't make many pitches on this site, but this is one product I have actually interacted with and it got me excited and wanting to learn to play the piano. I tried to take piano lessons when I was younger and it never turned out well. I'm now 31 years old and I was captivated within minutes of playing with Piano Wizard. I think this program is worthwhile. You should know that Piano Wizard isn't the only piano practice software on the market. There are at least 10 or so alternatives to choose from including Teach Me Piano, Piano Suite Premier, and Instant Play Piano. Nonetheless, none of these are in fact computer games, but are educational software focused on imparting skills -- not so much of the keep-them-glued magic of Piano Wizard. Teach Me Piano includes some games "on the side", but they are not a main focus of their program. So, in actuality, Allegro Rainbow has blazed the trail by melding piano instruction with gaming software. |
