First off you need to have the texture (bmp or jpg) you want to use. Try to choose a small file and one that would appear seamless when tiled. Import the image - File > Import.
Step 1
Create your text or object you want to fill with the texture and break it apart - Modify > Break Apart (Ctrl + B).
Step 2
Next, select your imported image and break that apart as well.
Step 3
Select the dropper
tool and click on the image. That should pick up the texture and your cursor should look like a paint bucket with a little padlock image beside it.
Step 4
Click on your text\object and it should fill the texture in. Thats it!
